How to reserve a train ticket for the Paris-Tours trip?
FROM / TO DOWNTOWN PARIS
There are direct trains between downtown Paris and Tours leaving from 2 different stations:
- High speed trains (TGV) leave from MONTPARNASSE station.
- Normal trains leave from AUSTERLITZ station. They are cheaper yet much slower than TGV.
- On the first page, there is a box entitled “Book your ticket”. Click on “More criteria”. You arrive on a page entitled “Make your train reservation” that starts with a rubric “From where and when do you want to leave?”
- In the “Leaving from” box, please enter:
- PARIS MONTPARNASSE 1 ET 2 (75)
- or PARIS AUSTERLITZ, depending on the station and kind of train you prefer.
- In the “Going to” box, please enter: TOURS STATION (37).
- Click the “Direct route only” box.
- Enter other information (Do you want 1st or 2nd class, a reserved seat? ; Who is traveling?).
- You can then choose the outward and return trains that correspond most to your needs.
- The French railway company does not send tickets to most foreign countries. You will be able to pick up your ticket in an electronic booth at the station. In order to complete this procedure, you will need the reservation code and the credit card used for the online booking.
FROM / TO CHARLES DE GAULLE AIRPORT
There are high speed trains between Paris main airport and Tours.
The train station at Charles de Gaulle Airport is located in Terminal 2.
- If your plane arrives in Terminal 1, you need to take a small train shuttle called “CDGVAL” that will take you in a few minutes to Terminal 2. The CDGVAL station is located at level 2 of Terminal 1.
- The train station is located underneath Terminal 2, between Terminal 2C/2E and 2D/2F.

- To reserve your train ticket, go to http://www.tgv-europe.com/en/home/. This is the international online booking service of the SNCF, the French railway company.
- On the first page, there is a box entitled “Book your ticket”. Click on “More criteria”. You arrive on a page entitled “Make your train reservation” that starts with a rubric “From where and when do you want to leave?”
- In the “Leaving from” box, please enter AIRPORT CDG 2 TGV (95)
- In the “Going to” box, please enter: TOURS STATION (37).
- Enter other information (Do you want 1st or 2nd class, a reserved seat? ; Who is traveling?).
- You can then choose the outward and return trains that correspond most to your needs.
- You need to change train in a station called “St Pierre des Corps” in order to reach Tours. This change is quick and convenient: in St Pierre des Corps, a shuttle train will be waiting for passengers going to Tours on the same platform where the train coming form the airport stops. The shuttle train will take you in 5 minutes to the station located downtown Tours.
